ALBIS with new abilities for lightweight applications in automotive andincreased compounding capacities in China

2 April 2018

ALBIS PLASTIC is exhibiting at Chinaplas 2018 in Shanghai - Booth 7.2C01. After acquiring German based WIPAG Deutschland GmbH, ALBIS is also presenting a new portfolio of engineering resins filled with recycled carbon fiber in addition to its established range of locally produced compounds and renowned distribution products. This new portfolio enables ALBIS to offer lightweight solutions for the automotive industry and especially for the increasing EV segment.

“This year’s Chinaplas will be the first fair where we present our new launched carbon fiber portfolio based on recycled feedstock,” notes Thomas Marquardt, Managing Director of WIPAG Deutschland GmbH.

As the most important plastics industry event in Asia, Chinaplas is an ideal forum for introducing customers and partners to relevant solutions and example applications.

“In general we see that our range of highly technical and sophisticated solutions is resonating more and more with the Chinese market. As a reaction we will invest in two new extrusion lines significantly expanding our compounding capacity in our Changshu plant in the third quarter of this year, meaning we will be ready for the future and the ongoing trend towards high quality materials in all market segments relevant to us,” says Hans Rukes, Managing Director of ALBIS PLASTIC Asia Pacific.

ALBIS is continuing to emphasize technical differentiation and competence within the Chinese market, flanking its own brand portfolio with distribution products from acclaimed international polymer manufacturers such as Covestro, Lanxess, Ineos Styrolution and LyondellBasell. The portfolio also includes Tecnaro GmbH’s line of products based on the renewable raw material lignin.

As one of the world’s leading suppliers of plastic solutions for lighting applications, ALBIS offers tailor-made products for the automotive and E&E industries. Its proven ALCOM® portfolio, which entails products for use in injection molding, was recently expanded to include ALCOM® LDX grades. These new light-diffusing compounds were developed for use in extruding profiles for linear LED light guides and lighting covers. ALCOM® LDX products are “ready-to-use” compounds with excellent light transmission and optimum scattering, ensuring homogenous illumination.

ALBIS will continue pursuing its market strategy in the Chinese market. ALBIS enjoyed a very successful business year in 2017, increasing its market presence substantially in both, distribution and own brand technical compounds.

“We see good growth opportunities in 2018 here in China, significantly above average market growth,” says Rukes, “and this is the reason for our major investment at our compounding site this year.”

Today, ALBIS is represented in a number of China’s core regions and will be expanding its radius of activity further into the Northern part of China. In addition, ALBIS is working actively to expand its presence in the markets in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Japan.
