Hyosung To Unveil POKETONE At Global Markets

25 April 2016

Hyosung announced on April 22 that it will unveil “POKETONE,” a new brand of polyketone, at Chinaplas 2016 to be held from the 25th to the 28th in Shanghai, China. Polyketone is an engineering plastic material which is commercialized by Hyosung for the first time in the world.

Chinaplas, recognized as Asia's No. 1 & world's No.2 plastics and rubber trade fair by the industry, will hold its 30th edition in 2016. More than 3,300 exhibitors from 40 countries around the world and 140,000 visitors are expected this year.

A polyketone business group at Hyosung Chemicals PG will participate in the exhibition and display connectors, automotive components, like fuel inlet, and electronic components which have used POKETONE.

POKETONE, an eco-friendly new engineering plastic material developed by Hyosung after a decade of research, is made of olefins and carbon monoxide (CO) which is mainly responsible for air pollution. About 0.5 ton of CO is used to produce 1 ton of polyketone. When 50,000 tons of polyketone are manufactured a year, it will have an effect equivalent to planting 3.8 million pine trees. The shock strength of polyketone is 2.3 times stronger than nylon, with its chemical resistance being 30 percent higher than that. Also, its wear-resistance is about 14 times greater than polyacetal (POM).
