LyondellBasell Advancing the change to non-phthalate catalysts in Polypropylene

LyondellBasell,one of the world's largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies aims to complete the conversion to non-phthalate catalyst for all Polypropylene food packaging grades by year end. This catalyst change meets the requirements of our customers and leading industry end users, in the ever demanding & challenging food packaging industry.

Approximately 80% of our EU PP portfolio has been converted to non-phthalate catalysts over the last number of years involving all our assets and is still on-going.

“The focus for this change has been on food packaging applications (flexible, rigid packaging and caps & closures) but also in healthcare, textile and blow molding most grades have been converted”, said Ben Buckers, Director Polypropylene and Catalloy Europe.
