Switzerland-based Maag, the world's leading manufacturer of gear pumps, pelletizing systems and filtration systems for high-end applications in the plastics, chemicals and petrochemicals industries, is expanding its operations by acquiring German company Ettlinger Kunststoffmaschinen GmbH ("Ettlinger").

Ettlinger is a leading vendor of systems for the polymer and compounding industry. Its innovative products will further enhance Maag's strong position on the polymer filtration market, adding to its portfolio a new business unit specializing in injection-molding machinery for large parts. The two companies will continue to operate on the market under their existing brand names. The Maag group, with its key brands "Maag Pump & Filtration Systems," "Automatik Scheer Strand Pelletizers," "Gala Automatik Underwater Pelletizers" and "Reduction Pulverizing Systems", is headed by President Ueli Thuerig.

"This expansion is an exciting idea. Bundling the products and strengths of Maag and Ettlinger will deliver a new breadth of custom solutions for plastic filtration," Ueli Thuerig comments. "Those customized products, in combination to rapid service backup through Maag's 18 global locations and tailored engineering solutions, will enable us to attain optimal, customer-specific market coverage."

Ettlinger Kunststoffmaschinen GmbH majority shareholder and CEO Volker Neuber states: "Maag and Ettlinger complement each other perfectly. This represents a unique opportunity to expand our product portfolio and offer our customers complete solutions. At the same time, we are extending our geographic reach, meaning we will be able to enhance our customer service on a global scale".

Over the coming weeks, the Maag and Ettlinger teams will be focused on leveraging both companies strengths in order to serve customers even more efficiently and effectively than before. The aim is to enhance the offer to customers by expanding the group's vertically integrated portfolio of products and services.

Maag has production sites in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the USA and China as well as additional service centers and sales offices in France, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, Thailand and Brazil. Ettlinger's manufacturing base is in Germany, and it operates a sales and service center in Atlanta, USA. Together, Maag and Ettlinger will attain an outstanding geographic reach, resulting in an increased global presence.
