PriPro Polymers works to bring new TPE to market

18 October 2016

Technology firm PriPro Polymers Inc. is working to commercialize new compounds based on thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials.

Fallbrook, Calif.-based PriPro has developed cross-linked grades of thermoplastic polyurethane and other types of TPEs. Officials said that the materials can be used in many durable products and are environmentally safe when compared to traditional cast urethane materials.

PriPro sources TPU from several suppliers and then works with a compounder in southern California to have the materials made to its specifications, said Pijush Dewanjee, president and founder, in a recent phone interview. In addition to TPU, PriPro’s technology can be used with copolyesters and other specialty materials, he added.

Potential uses for TPE compounds made through PriPro’s technology include shoe soles, windshield wiper blades, skateboard wheels and conveyor belts.
