AMI's third international forum for oil and gas operators, contractors, equipment manufacturers, researchers and industry suppliers, Oil & Gas Polymer Engineering Texas 2017, will take place June 6-7 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak. This two-day program will examine the latest developments in the use of non-metallic materials in the harsh conditions of oil and gas drilling and transportation, including new challenges arising in unconventional gas reservoirs.
The US is a leading player in oil and gas production. Due to the low global oil price, margins are tight across the industry and operators are looking to improve efficiency and lower costs. Selecting the right materials for vital components is a key element in reducing maintenance and maintaining long-term performance; failure is expensive. Polymer materials (thermoplastics, elastomers, thermoset and composite materials) are essential to the function and integrity of many structures including risers, umbilicals, cables, chemical and corrosion-resistant coatings in steel structures, pipelines, seals, Christmas trees, platforms, pumps, zonal isolation technology, swellable packers and blow-out preventers. The latest plastics technologies such as 3D-printing (additive manufacturing) are being evaluated for emergency use on rigs in remote locations. In addition there are roles for high performance degradable polymers in temporary structures in fracking applications.
Oil & Gas Polymer Engineering Texas 2017 will provide a networking forum for materials engineers and expert researchers to share case studies, learn from past experience and look to the future with the latest technologies.
The second edition of the Performance Polyamides conference will take place on 6 & 7 June 2017, at the Maritim Hotel, Cologne, Germany.
The two-day conference will examine the latest advances in polyamide resins and compounds for demanding technical applications in markets such as the automotive, electrical/electronic, medical, consumer goods, construction and industrial sectors.
An international line-up of influential speakers will explore how improvements in the properties and processability of polyamides are accelerating the development of new applications, including a focus on metal replacement. Industry experts will discuss market opportunities and new applications, including case studies from a range of markets. The high-level programme will cover developments in PA 6, PA 66, PA 46, PPA and other polyamide chemistries including biobased PA resins made from renewable resources.
Important materials developments such as high-heat-resistant and high-flow resins will be included in the comprehensive programme, along with advances in specialty additives and reinforcements for polyamide compounds. Tailored formulations such as conductive, flame retardant and tribological grades will also be covered, along with developments to improve the properties of recycled resins.
Performance Polyamides 2017 will be relevant for the complete polyamide supply chain including resin producers, compounders, injection moulders, product designers, and materials specifiers at OEMs and end-users.
In addition to a busy two-day programme of conference sessions, there will be an accompanying exhibition with plenty of networking opportunities during the refreshments breaks, lunches and an evening cocktail reception.
AMI is pleased to announce Plastic Closure Innovations 2017, its 5th international conference focussed on innovation in the plastic closures industry and product delivery mechanisms for both beverages and non-beverages applications. The event will take place on 6-8 June 2017 at the Sofitel Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, Germany and will bring together leading industry professionals and experts at all levels of the supply chain. In addition to a busy two-day programme of presentations by leading industry participants, Plastic Closure Innovations 2017 will feature an exhibition area and it will provide a high-level networking opportunity facilitated by sufficient breaks between sessions.
Today technology and marketing play an increasingly important role in choosing the right packaging system. At the same time brand owners are looking at the full packaging solution of their products in which the role of closures is increasingly valued to improve product differentiation, aesthetics and functionality.
Demand for innovative plastic closures is growing fast in many end use applications driven by changing consumer behavior and growing consumerism as well as by category diversification thanks to brand owners’ evolving brand activity and by changing packaging trends. Demand for premium brand opportunities is increasing too which is strongly facilitated by plastics technology and system developments. As the industry is becoming increasingly technology driven, caps and closures producers have to innovate in order to protect and grow profitability.
The primary focus of technology developments in closures production has been the increase of capacity and efficiency a few years ago. Today technology improvements go beyond that. Quality, precision and consistency are the main measures which deliver the ultimate goal of increasing productivity. This change in emphasis opens up new avenues in closure design and it acts as a spring board to make innovative, high quality and added value products more affordable.
Plastic caps & closures is an attractive segment characterised by solvent customers, raising barriers to entry and high growth prospects for most applications. Whatever your involvement in the plastic closures industry, be it brand owner or investor, plastic closure producer, designer or material and technology supplier, Plastic Closure Innovations 2017 will provide with an ideal opportunity to meet with like minded professionals, get expert opinions on adding value and optimising results and debate key issues
Medical tubing and catheters play a critical role in a huge variety of healthcare applications, and demand is growing thanks to factors such as an aging population and moves towards less invasive medical procedures.
This conference will address the latest tubing and catheter developments for a wide range of medical requirements including intravenous, infusion, dialysis, respiratory, feeding, and drainage applications. It will also examine the latest standards and certification requirements in this heavily regulated sector.
There are a huge variety of polymer options available for medical tubing production including flexible vinyl compounds, thermoplastic elastomers, thermoplastic urethanes, polyolefins, fluoropolymers, polyamides, polyimides, silicones, PEEK and PEBA. Inter-material competition is strong and selecting the optimum polymer grade to meet requirements such as flexibility, clarity, kink-resistance, dimensional stability, biocompatibility and cost-reduction can present a considerable challenge.
In addition, exciting new developments in additives and the latest compound formulations are bringing added functionality, increased performance and improved biocompatibility to medical tubing products. Examples include antimicrobial, radiopaque, nanocomposite, lubricious and color-coded compounds.
Presentations at the Medical Tubing 2017 conference will address the latest advances in polymers, additives and compounds to meet the growing and evolving demands of this dynamic and highly competitive market.
On the design and production front, tubing configurations are becoming more complex, including increasingly sophisticated multi-layer, multi-lumen and micro-bore designs. These have to be produced to extremely tight tolerances and at higher throughputs to deliver cost efficiencies. At the Medical Tubing 2017 conference, leading experts will discuss how extrusion technologies are being developed and refined to meet these considerable challenges.
In addition to two days of high-level presentations, the conference will provide excellent networking opportunities with key players from throughout the medical tubing supply chain.
This will be the first Medical Tubing conference to be held in Europe and will build on the success of the debut Medical Tubing event in the USA, which took place on 13 - 14 September 2016 and attracted over 170 visitors.
