A local company has decided to reinvest millions into the community which will create new jobs and possibly more business growth in the region.

Plastic injection molding company ALPLA is planning a 14 million dollar expansion at its plant in the Fort Shawnee Industrial Park. Allen County Commissioners, the last of three entities that approved an enterprise zone agreement, giving them a 10 year, 50% tax abatement. The expansion will include an additional 80-thousand square feet of space, up to 9 new manufacturing lines with new blow-molding technology, and create 35 jobs. Local economic development officials say when one company expands, it can create a trickle down effect in the region.

The project also includes a rail spur. ALPLA began production in Allen County in 2007.
