Dirk Perrin, a 25-year veteran of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, is the new plant manager at the company’s Cedar Bayou plant effective April 1, Chevron Phillips Chemical announced today.

Perrin, previously the plant manager at Chevron Phillips Chemical’s facility in Sweeny, Texas, replaces Gary Piana in the plant manager role. Piana has accepted a new role at the company’s headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas, as the Manufacturing Improvement and Transformation General Manager.

Perrin, Piana’s successor, has served in various plant leadership roles within Chevron Phillips Chemical’s global manufacturing organization over the past 25 years. These roles include Pasadena Maintenance Manager, Singapore Plant Manager, Qatar Chemical Production Manager and Qatar Chemical Plant Manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Active in his community, Perrin served on the executive board for the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County and the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council (BCPC). He served as the chairman for the BCPC Environmental, Health and Safety Committee, where is brought best practice safety programs to industry leaders for two consecutive years. He is also a member of the University of Oklahoma School of Chemical, Biological and Material Engineering Advisory Board.

“For the past three years, Dirk has led one of the company’s largest manufacturing sites in Sweeny Texas, where he and his team have achieved exceptional safety and environmental results,” said Bryan Canfield, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Chevron Phillips Chemical. “He has a strong commitment to the community and has championed a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee pride.”

Perrin is moving back to the Baytown area with his wife, Ruth, and their two children, Annsley, 14, and Decker, 11. Ruth Perrin worked in Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District for nine years before the family moved to Singapore. Perrin said he and his family are excited to return to the Baytown community.

Exiting Baytown plant manager Piana began his career in 1982 with Chevron Corporation and he served in multiple leadership roles at Chevron Phillips Chemical domestic and international operations since the company’s inception. These included plant manager at Q-Chem’s Mesaieed site in Qatar, and plant manager for the manufacturing facility in Orange, Texas.

“Gary has been a great asset to the Cedar Bayou plant as well as the community,” Canfield said. “With Gary’s proven performance, he will help elevate innovation, transformation and continuous improvement across our manufacturing facilities.”
