Evolve Additive Solutions Announces Strategic Partnership with alphacam to Provide STEP Parts Production in Europe

4 October 2023

Evolve Additive Solutions, a provider of industrial 3D printing solutions known for its Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process (STEP), has entered into a strategic partnership with alphacam GmbH to offer STEP-manufactured parts as a service to customers across Europe. STEP is a groundbreaking additive manufacturing technology designed to address limitations in accuracy, scalability, and the use of engineering-grade materials seen in other existing technologies. alphacam, with its extensive industry knowledge, experience in plastic part printing, and strong customer relationships, will leverage Evolve's Scaled Volume Production (SVP) platform to produce and deliver fully dense, high-fidelity thermoplastic parts with a surface finish and properties approaching those of injection-molded parts.

This partnership represents the second of its kind introduced by Evolve as part of its mission to establish STEP production centers of excellence worldwide. The goal is to expand access to STEP technology, which is currently the only additive process capable of meeting the material properties, accuracy, and scalability required for producing end-use parts at production volumes and replacing traditional manufacturing methods in various applications. The first partnership, previously announced with Fathom Digital Manufacturing, offers STEP parts in North America and has seen significant interest and growth in STEP from customers.

Jeff Hanson, Evolve’s Senior Vice President of Go-to-Market, noted, “We have experienced increasing demand for STEP parts in Europe, especially in automotive, consumer electronics, medical device, and retail markets, as well as with fluid and airflow applications. Given their rich history and leadership in additive manufacturing, alphacam is the ideal partner to bring STEP technology to European industrial sectors.”

Michael Junghanss, alphacam’s Managing Partner, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “At alphacam, we pride ourselves on remaining at the forefront of advanced manufacturing technologies and services. I believe STEP technology is uniquely positioned to deliver on additive manufacturing’s quest toward production quality and scale, and we are excited to now be able to deliver this value by way of STEP parts to our customers.”

alphacam unveiled its new STEP technology offering during its 2nd annual alphacAM EXPO and customer open house on September 27, 2023, which was well-received by attendees. STEP parts production is now available directly through alphacam.
