Lightwave Logic Expands Its Colorado Operations to Support New Commercial Activities

22 August 2023

Lightwave Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ: LWLG), a cutting-edge technology platform company harnessing its proprietary electro-optic (EO) polymers to enable high-speed data transmission with reduced power consumption and compact form factors, has announced the completion of its newly established laboratory production facilities. These expanded facilities have increased the size of the corporate headquarters in Englewood, Colorado by approximately 10,000 square feet, resulting in a total area of around 23,500 square feet. This expansion is aimed at supporting the company's new commercial ventures.

With the Computing Technology Industry Association highlighting that Colorado's tech industry contributes $52.6 billion to the state's economy, accounting for 12.2% of its total economic impact, Lightwave Logic's strategic move aligns well with the vibrant tech landscape.

This expansion entails the introduction of new laboratory and engineering spaces, effectively augmenting the Englewood facility by more than 65%. The enhanced space enables the company to conduct commercial device testing and assessment, validate production reliability, carry out laser characterization, perform SEM analysis, and extend the chemical synthesis production line. Additionally, the facility will accommodate the growth of the company's workforce, which will soon comprise 33 members, including organic chemists, photonics specialists, packaging and reliability engineers.

Dr. Michael Lebby, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lightwave Logic, remarked, "As we embark on this exciting phase of advancing our commercial business plans, we believe that our team and facilities are now positioned to make our electro-optic polymers a common feature. The increased space allows us to enhance our technical capabilities for producing, evaluating, and refining our electro-optic polymer materials. This space will be employed to facilitate commercial material supply and licensing agreements, exemplified by our recent inaugural agreement to offer Perkinamine® chromophore materials for polymer-based photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Coupled with the addition of seasoned engineers, we are rapidly expanding our operational capacities to bolster our commercialization initiatives. This positions Lightwave Logic for a promising future, delivering positive news to both our customers and shareholders."
