Milliken & Company Brings Plastic Additive Portfolio to ArabPlast 2023

7 October 2023

Milliken & Company, a globally diversified manufacturer specializing in specialty chemicals, will be showcasing a range of innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the plastics circular economy at ArabPlast 2023. These solutions, on display from December 13th to 15th at stand 3B154, are designed to transform plastics production and bring holistic benefits across the entire value chain.

Milliken's additives empower plastics to exhibit performance-driven characteristics such as increased clarity, strength, recyclability, and emissions reduction. These additives also facilitate inter-material replacement opportunities and support the utilization of recycled content during production. By incorporating Milliken's additive portfolio, brands and manufacturers can make tangible progress toward their sustainability goals and metrics, aligning with Milliken's broader sustainability commitments, including contributing to plastics end-of-life solutions and pursuing net-zero targets.

Wim Van de Velde, Global Vice President of Plastic Additives for Milliken, stated, "As experts in the field of additive and colorant technologies, Milliken is uniquely positioned to help further the circular economy for plastics with a range of solutions that promote reduction, reuse, recycling, and replacement strategies solutions that very much align with Milliken's overarching sustainability commitment."

At ArabPlast, attendees can explore Milliken's leading clarifier, modifier, and additive products, including:

  1. Millad® NX® 8000 ECO: A clarifying agent for polypropylene (PP) that enhances clarity, increases production rates, and reduces energy consumption. This product is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to provide average energy savings of 10% for the production of injection-molded clarified PP parts.

  2. Hyperform® HPN®: Performance additives for PP that improve stiffness and impact resistance while reducing energy usage. The Hyperform line is UL-certified to enable 5% to 8% energy savings when used as a nucleator in the production of thin-wall injection-molded PP container lids and similar applications.

  3. DeltaMax®: Performance modifiers for virgin and recycled PP, offering a unique ability to balance melt flow, impact strength, and stiffness for overall performance improvement. DeltaMax helps converters reduce energy consumption by running machines with faster cycle times or lower temperatures.

  4. DeltaFlow™ Viscosity Modifiers: Solid concentrates designed to increase the melt flow rate of recycled polypropylene (rPP) for extrusion and injection molding processes, aiding PP recyclers.

  5. UltraGuard™ Solutions: Concentrates that enhance barrier properties in polyethylene (PE), allowing for downgauging and reduced material usage, resulting in lighter parts and improved end-stage recyclability.

Milliken also previews purposeful partnerships aimed at advancing the conversation around plastics circularity. These collaborations, whether with customers to explore carbon emission reductions or inter-material replacement solutions or with industry leaders like PureCycle and Holy Grail 2.0, underline Milliken's commitment to meaningful projects within the plastics industry. Milliken combines technical innovation with purposeful collaboration to drive positive change within the plastics ecosystem.
