19 January 2024

Lubrizol Advanced Materials announced that three more Lubrizol Engineered Polymers facilities received PLUS certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) late last year.

ISCC PLUS is an international sustainable development certification for industrial applications. It is a fully traceable sustainable supply chain standard that allows companies to track and attribute environmentally friendly raw materials throughout the value chain through transparent record keeping functions, and does not Will change the production process.

The three plants that have received this high-value third-party qualification (ISCC PLUS certification) are Lubrizol Advanced Materials' headquarters in Brecksville and production plants in Avon Lake, Ohio, USA, and Erweil, Belgium.

As part of Lubrizol's commitment to sustainable development and the expansion of ESTANE ® TPU sustainable solutions, these certifications are new achievements after Lubrizol's China Songjiang factory obtained ISCC PLUS certification last year. Our sustainable solutions are used in a variety of industries, including footwear, electronics and industrial applications.

Dr. Jesús Santamaria, Global Business Director of Sustainability at Lubrizol Engineered Polymers, said: “ISCC PLUS enables a completely transparent approach to biomass balance and reduces the product carbon footprint (PCF) of the final product. The introduction of ESTANE RNW TPU solutions ensures that we achieve As a result, this solution can reduce the PCF of customers' existing equipment without changing the production process or changing the final material performance."

Elizabeth Grove, chief sustainability officer at The Lubrizol Corporation, said, “Achieving ISCC PLUS certification is an important step in ensuring Lubrizol has a single, consistent, company-wide process for tracking materials across the organization. As we increase the use of bio-based* and recycled materials ", Lubrizol's customers have greater confidence in our ability to reliably track these materials during the manufacturing process."

Using the quality balance method to expand the use of alternative raw materials, and adopting the ISCC PLUS external verification system as an important tracking element, will support Lubrizol in accelerating its global sustainable development journey. We are working with partners and building alliances to develop solutions that have a positive environmental and social impact that exceeds the ecological footprint of product production.
