Huntsman to unveil new SHOKLESS™ polyurethane systems developed for battery potting at The Battery Show Europe

6 June 2024

Huntsman Polyurethanes will be in Stuttgart for The Battery Show Europe from June 18 -20 – where it will unveil a brand new SHOKLESS™ polyurethane system series developed for battery potting applications. These innovative technologies have been developed to help safeguard the structural integrity of electric vehicle (EV) batteries in case of impact or a thermal event and are part of a wider family of low to high density foams that can be used via common polyurethane dispensing processes and can offer a wide processing window for extra handling flexibility.

During The Battery Show Europe, Huntsman will also be showcasing a wide range of composite resin solutions that can help facilitate the swift creation of underbody and upper cover battery protection components. These products can offer manufacturers the chance to accelerate production by up to 30% compared to existing technologies*.

The business will also be promoting other innovations, including its RIMLINE® FC polyurethane system - a moldable, tunable foam core technology for lightweight, durable, composite applications in electric vehicles. This material can be used to create battery enclosures. It can also be used in the production of under floor structures, door frames, inserts for (semi-) structural parts, and acoustically enhanced components.

Visitors to The Battery Show Europe will be able to find out more about Huntsman’s solutions for the sector at a special Product Showcase, which will be held on Tuesday 18th June at 3pm at Booth D80, Hall 4. Join Srdjan Tadich, Technology lead for Automotive at Huntsman Polyurethanes, for a fifteen-minute presentation entitled: “Showcasing the power of Huntsman’s polyurethanes in battery protection applications”.
