Introduction:
Covestro, a global leader in high-tech polymer materials, plans to build a pilot plant for elastomer recycling at its site in Leverkusen, Germany, with a multi-million euro investment.
Features:
This technology allows for the recycling of over 90% of end-of-life materials, such as forklift tyres, while cutting the carbon footprint by up to two-thirds compared to using virgin materials.
By successfully scaling up this new recycling process, we meet customer demand for end-of-life solutions and carbon footprint reduction, all while maintaining the high quality of our elastomer products.
Additionally, the pilot plant serves as an invitation to stakeholders across the value chain to collaborate on creating a circular model and reverse supply chain for end-of-life materials.
Construction is expected to take approximately one year to reach technical completion.
