Introduction:

LyondellBasell is set to invest €40 million in sustainable growth and value creation by establishing its first catalytic advanced recycling plant at the Wesseling site in Germany.

Features:

This plant will utilise LyondellBasell's proprietary MoReTec technology, making it the first commercial-scale, single-train advanced recycling plant designed to showcase its scalability. It will convert pre-treated, mixed waste plastics into raw materials for producing new plastic polymers, which will be marketed under the LYB CirculenRevive brand.

Germany's strong position in the chemical industry makes the new Wesseling plant a key player in the future viability of this sector. As the first large-scale industrial facility for chemical plastic recycling, it marks a significant milestone towards establishing a circular economy.

By making investments like these, we are providing solutions to meet the growing demand for more sustainable products from both our customers and society.

The new plant has the potential to transform hard-to-recycle processed mixed plastic waste from over 1.2 million German residents into valuable raw materials for new products. This is just the first unit we are constructing, as we are already planning future MoReTec plants.
